  1. It’s 200 gms of Oyster Mushroom/Sippi Kalan.

  2. Prepare 2 tsp of Oil/Coconut Oil.

  3. You need 1/2 tsp of Mustard seeds.

  4. You need 10 of Shallots roughly chopped.

  5. You need as required of Curry leaves few.

  6. Prepare as per taste of Salt-.

  9. It’s of FOR MASALA PASTE:-.

  10. Prepare 2 tsp of Oil.

  11. You need 20 of Shallots roughly chopped.

  12. You need 1 of Medium Size Tomato roughly chopped.

  13. You need 1/2 cup of Grated Coconut.

  14. Prepare 1/2 inch of piece of Ginger.

  15. Prepare 5 of Garlic pods.

  16. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Turmeric powder.

  17. It’s 1 of Green Chilli.

  18. You need as required of Water-.

  19. It’s of FOR MASALA POWDER:-.

  20. You need 2 tsp of Sesame Oil.

  21. Prepare 2 Tbsp of Coriander seeds.

  22. It’s 1/2 tsp of Fennel seeds.

  23. Prepare 5 of Fenugreek seeds.

  24. It’s 1/2 inch of piece of Cinnamon.

  25. You need 2 of Cloves.

  26. Prepare as required of Curry leaves few.

  27. You need 3/4 tsp of Cumin seeds.

  28. It’s 5 of Peppercorns.

  29. Prepare 5 of Dry Red Chillies.

Button mushrooms are tasty - toasted,in gravy.

The mushroom kalan is prepared with ground spice and simmered to create a spicy broth.

Oyster Mushroom Gravy/Sippi Kalan Kuzhambu instructions

  1. Wash the Mushroom with hot water twice and drain it. Cut it into thin lengthwise..

  2. In a kadai, roast the ingredients given under masala powder in medium flame. Transfer to a bowl. Cool it completely..

  3. In the same kadai, add sesame oil, shallots and tomatoes given under masala paste. Saute till tomatoes becomes mushy. Atlast add the coconut and saute for a minute. Cool it completely..

  4. First grind the ingredients which has been roasted, to a fine powder. Then add shallots tomato mixture. Along with it add the remaining ingredients given under masala paste. Add required water and grind to a smooth paste..

  5. In a kadai, add oil. Add mustard seeds fry it. Add shallots and curry leaves. Saute till shallots becomes translucent..

  6. Add the masala paste, salt and required water. Cover and cook for 10 mins in medium flame..

  7. Then add the mushrooms, mix well. Add required water. Cover and cook for 15 mins in medium flame..

  8. Transfer to a bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves..

  9. Serve hot with rice, idli and dosa..
