  1. You need of 🥀8-10 arbi peeled.

  2. Prepare of 🥀2 tbsp oil.

  3. Prepare of 🥀1 tsp mustard seeds.

  4. It’s of 🥀2 sprigs of curry leaves/kadi patta.

  5. It’s of 🥀1 tsp cumin seeds.

  6. Prepare of 🥀2 onion ground into paste.

  7. Prepare of 🥀1 tsp ginger garlic paste.

  8. Prepare of 🥀2 tomatos finely chopped.

  9. It’s of 🥀1 cup fresh coconut ground into paste.

  10. Prepare of 🥀1 tsp turmeric powder/haldi.

  11. Prepare of 🥀2 tsp red chili powder.

  12. Prepare of 🥀2 tsp coriander powder.

  13. You need of 🥀2 tsp cumin powder.

  14. It’s of 🥀1 tsp fenugreek powder/methi powder.

  15. You need of 🥀1 lemon sized tamarind ball soaked in water.

  16. Prepare to taste of 🥀salt.

Peel and slice the bigger ones into two pieces and fry lightly in oil.

Heat some oil in a separate pan and saute the onions till golden brown.

This same base is used in many other versions of the khatta shorba, which are Karele ka Khatta Shorba, Aloo-Gosht ka Khatta shorba , Arvi-Gosht ka khatta shorba etc.

Arvi_ka_khatta_salan step by step

  1. 🥀Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add the mustard seeds till they splutter. Add the cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion. Fry till the onion paste gets brown in color. Add the ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell vanishes.

  2. 🥀Put the peeled arbi, chopped tomato, turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, fenugreek powder and salt and cover the lid. Cook until the arbi is tender. About 4 or 5 whistles of the pressure cooker. Allow the steam to escape..

  3. 🥀Add the coconut paste and soaked tamarind pulp and cook on low flame till the oil starts to float in the gravy, Garnish with coriander leaves.

  4. Serve it hot with rice.or Chapati….
