It’s 2 small cups of Rice flour.

Prepare 2 tbspn of Ghee.

Prepare 1 tsp of Mustard seeds.

It’s 1 tsp of Split urad dal.

It’s 2 tbsp of Fresh grated coconut.

Prepare To taste of Salt.

You need 300 ml of Water.

You need 5/6 of curry leaves.

It’s 2 of dry red chillies.

You need 2 pinches of Asafoetida/hing.

It’s 1/4 tsp of Red chilli powder (adjust to taste).

It’s 1 tbsp of Molgapodi (A spicy Dosa/Idli dry chutney powder).

Take the measured water in a pan or thick bottom kadhai and keep it to boil. Put ghee and salt in it..

Then once the water boils turn off the gas..

Add in the rice flour and mix well. The rice flour will will absorb in all the water and it becomes a thick mass..

Close the pan or kadhai with a lid and keep aside for 5 minutes. Let it cook in its own steam..

Then after 5 minutes,open the lid and mix the rice flour well. Make sure that it is done properly, so that no lumps are there..

Then grease your hands with little ghee and roll them to make small cut balls of it.This step is real fun..

Later put these rice balls in a steamer or vessel and steam it for 5 to 7 minutes..

Then later after they are steamed and ready remove them out and keep aside.

Now heat another pan put ghee in it and when hot add the mustard seeds and split urad dal..

Later add in the dry red chillies (broken into halves), asafoetida powder/hing and curry leaves.They start spluttering, reduce the flame so that this tadka does not burn for a few seconds till the dal turns brown in colour..

Now turn off the gas.Add in the steamed rice balls..

Then add in the red chilli powder,grated coconut and Molagapodi in it..

Gently toss everything so that each ball gets evenly coated with the spices..
