Kerala Style Unniyappam (Banana Appam). Unniyappam Recipe Kerala Style - Instant Unniyappam/Nei Appam or Sweet Paniyaram is an easy to make instant low fat Sweet Appam Recipe. Unniyappam or Unni Appam is a traditional Kerala sweet snack made from flour, banana, jaggery, coconuts and deep fried in ghee or oil. Unniyappam is a small round snack made from rice, jaggery, banana.
But after seeing a couple of you tube videos, I decided it's not time for me to make.

It’s 1 cup of Raw Rice.

Prepare 2 of Bananas.

It’s 3 of Cardamoms.

It’s 3/4 Cup of Jaggery.

You need 2 tbsp of Water.

It’s 2 tbsp of Ghee or Butter.

Prepare 1/4 tsp of Dry Ginger Powder.

Prepare 1 tsp of Black Sesame Seeds.

It’s 1/4 tsp of Baking Soda.

You need of As required Salt.

My husband is a big fan of banana desserts.
Here is how to do Kerala style Unniyappam.
A quick, tasty and simple snack made with wheat flour, banana and jaggery.
Kerala Style Unniyappam (Banana Appam) step by step

Soak the rice for 4 to 5 hours..

Drain off the water and put in a blender along with the bananas and cardamoms. Blend to a coarse paste without water..

In a vessel, add Jaggery and water. Keep the flame on medium and stir till jaggery dissolves. Boil till thick consistency. Off flame and let it cool slightly..

Filter the jaggery syrup and pour into rice batter. Mix well. It should be thick dosa batter consistency..

To the batter, add dry ginger powder, black sesame seeds, baking soda and salt. Mix well. If the batter is watery, add rice flour (1 tbsp).

Heat Appe pan. Pour 1/2 tsp ghee in each mould of Appe pan. Pour batter into each Appe mould. Keep the flame on low. Cook for a minute or 2. Roast to golden brown on both sides. Cook till the toothpick inserted comes out clean..

Enjoy the Unniyappams. It taste good both hot as well as cold..
