Korean Yang-nyeom Chicken. Yangnyeom chicken (Korean: 양념치킨) is a variety of Korean fried chicken seasoned with a sweet and spicy sauce of gochujang, garlic, sugar, and other spices. It is often eaten as anju, food consumed while drinking, in South Korea. Julia Moskin, writing for The New York Times, called yangnyeom chicken "the apotheosis of the Korean style" of fried chicken.

Ingredients of Korean Yang-nyeom Chicken

  1. Prepare 1 of large Boneless chicken thigh (250-300g).

  2. Prepare 1 Tbsp of Olive oil.

  3. It’s 2-3 pinches of Salt & pepper.

  4. It’s 1/4 cup of Flour, for dusting chicken or as needed.

  5. You need of Oil for deep-frying you can also broil or pan fry as needed.

  6. It’s of ↓ Spicy Sauce ↓.

  7. You need 2 Tbsp of Olive or vegetable oil.

  8. It’s 2 Tbsp of Tomato, finely chopped.

  9. You need 1 Tbsp of Onion, finely chopped.

  10. You need 1 clove of Garlic, finely chopped.

  11. It’s 1 Tbsp of Gochujan Korean hot pepper paste | 고추장.

  12. It’s 1-2 tsp of Cayenne/ground chili pepper (more = more spicy).

  13. It’s 1 Tbsp of Sugar.

  14. It’s 1-1.5 tsp of Lemon juice or vinegar.

  15. You need pinch of Black pepper.

  16. Prepare 2 tsp of Sesame seeds.

Wash the chicken (optional) and drain.

  6. Fry in batches if needed. Once crispy and golden brown, remove and let excess oil drain. (It took about 2-3 minutes for bite-size pieces when I cooked)..

  7. Bring the spicy sauce to a low simmer and add the cooked chicken to the pan. Coat well with sauce and remove to serving dish..

  8. Topping with some chopped peanuts or almonds gives it a nice accent and extra crunch!.
