Ingredients of Kerala Style Coconut Milk Fish Curry

  1. You need of Chilli Powder.

  2. Prepare of Tilapia Fillets.

  3. It’s of Coconut Milk.

  4. It’s of Turmeric Powder.

  5. It’s of Tamarind Concentrate.

  6. Prepare of Salt.

  7. Prepare of Green Chilli, finely sliced.

  8. Prepare of Shallots.

  9. Prepare of Garlic, finely minced.

  10. Prepare of Fenugreek Seeds.

  11. It’s of Vegetable Oil.

  12. You need of Curry Leaves.

Now apply the prepared mixture to the fish pieces and keep aside.

Heat coconut oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, toss it, add the coated fish pieces and fry them.

Use coconut milk with fat that is whole coconut milk for richer better tasting Kerala fish curry.

SERVING IDEAS: We love it with hot white rice or Kerala Style Crepes known as Appam.

Kerala Style Coconut Milk Fish Curry step by step

  1. Add coconut milk, chilli powder and turmeric to a non stick pot. Mix and heat to a simmer..

  2. Wash and cut the tilapia fillets into 1 inch cubes. Add the fish gently. Get it boiling again and add salt..

  3. Add the tamarind concentrate..

  4. After 1 minute lower flame and cook uncovered till curry thickens and the fish is cooked..

  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. Add the fenugreek and saute till it turns golden..

  6. Add garlic, shallots, green chilli and curry leaves and saute till it turns golden..

  7. Add to the curry. Don’t stir. Cover and allow to sit 15-30 minutes before serving..
