Recipe: Tasty Mango sambar Delicious, fresh and tasty.
Mango sambar. Mango sambar is one of the flavorful sambar just like drumstick sambar. I am not a big fan though. But mom and MIL makes this very often in mango season.
As mango season has started in India, I thought of sharing recipes using mangoes.
The first one that came to my mind is this raw mango sambar recipe..sambar/ sadhya sambar where they add a piece of mango to the sambar which not only enhances the taste of sambar but the smell and flavor triples just with that raw mango addition to the sambar.
Raw Mango Sambar / Maanga Sambar is one of the most flavourful sambar recipes…Whenever I get raw mango either I use it for mango pachadi or make this sambar or very rarely use it for fish.
You can cook Mango sambar using 17 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you cook it.
Ingredients of Mango sambar

It’s of Oil.

It’s of Mustard seeds.

You need of Fenugreek seeds.

You need of Urad dal.

Prepare of Curry leaves 1 sprig.

You need of garlic cloves 5 nos.

You need of Hing powder.

You need of Red chilli 2 nos.

It’s of Green chilli 2 nos.

It’s of Onion 1 nos.

It’s of Tomato 1 nos.

It’s of Mango 1 nos.

You need of Toor dal.

Prepare of Tamarind juice- small lemon size 1 nos.

You need of Turmeric powder.

It’s of Chilli powder.

Prepare of Sambar powder.
Mango season has started in India, so here I am sharing an easy mango sambar recipe with you all.
Raw Mango sambar i have tasted in my friend's house few years back, but somehow i didn't liked it.
But i don't say she didn't make it nice, because mango sambar one of her signature.
Do try this simple and mango flavored sambar at home and bring a smile on the face of your family members.
Mango sambar step by step

Wash toor dal and cook well in a pressure cooker along with 2 garlic, turmeric powder, green chilli, Hing powder and salt for 2 whistles..

Soak a lemon sized tamarind in a water for 15 mins and take the juice..

In a pan add oil, when it is hot add red chilli, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal,remaining garlic,Hing powder and Curry leaves. When spluttering add onions and tomato, mix it well and cook till it becomes mushy..

Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and sambar powder. Mix well till the raw smell goes..

Add the cubed mango pieces and mix well to the masala..

Now mash the cooked dal and add to the onion tomato masala..

Keep the flame in medium low and cover it for 5 mins, mix it in between to avoid burning..

Now extract the juice from the tamarind that is soaked in water and add to the dal. Add more water to this if you according to your consistency and let it boil for 15 mins in medium low..

Now switch off and have the tasty mango sambar with hot steamed rice..
There are numerous versions of sambar but this one is note worthy due to the magical sambar powder.
