Ingredients of Chandrakala - A sweet

  2. You need 300 gms of khoya.

  3. You need 2 tbsp of suji.

  4. You need 3 tbsp of gratted coconut.

  5. Prepare as needed of Chopped dry fruits–almond, pita, kaju, kismis.

This was topped with sugar syrup like gulab jamun, when I started eating; it was so good that I couldn't resist eating two pieces.

Chandrakala is a very elegant and royal Indian sweet usually made during Diwali and Holi in North India.

Chandrakala - A sweet instructions

  1. For for the stuffing. In pan put ghee then add the suji, fry it till little brown. Then add the dry fruits and coconut. Fry it and keep it aside. Now in the same pan put the mawa. Let it soften. Now in a bowl add the mawa, the suji and coconut. Let it cool. Then add the powder sugar, elachi powder and black pepper powder. Mix them all..

  2. Now take the madia add ghee to it atleast 3 tbsp then mix it fully. Now add cold water and make the dough. It should not be very soft. When the dough is done. Grease some ghee on it. And cover it with a wet cloth so that it doesnt become dry..

  3. Now make small dough. Roll it into round shape like puri. Put the stuffing. Put water on the side. Put another on top of it. Now fold the sides with soft hand so that the filling dose not comes out..

  4. Now in a pan put ghee and fry them. Then transfer it to the sugar syrup..

With a lot of variation it is also made in Maharashtra and south Indian States.

It is quite similar to the humble Gujiya but richer in taste and looks.

Unlike the Gujiya, it is round in shape and hence the name Chandrakala.

Suryakala chandrakala recipe is very famous in sweet stalls but we can make it at home too.

This is a bit lengthy process but worth the effort as it tastes so delicious.
