  1. First cut the big karunai kilangu into 2 halves. Peel off the skin. Wash it properly to remove mud. Apply oil on your hands and then cut this vegetable to avoid itching..

  4. After this kilangu is cooked as mentioned above, remove it on a stainer.The excess water will be drained. Now in a pan add 3 to 4 tbsp oil. Add mustard,urad dal Chanadal, after it turns golden, add hing and cooked kilangu..

  5. Add curry leaves, turmeric powder,chilli powder,salt and stir it. On medium flame allow it to roast..

  6. To enhance the taste of this varuval you can add 2 tsp of idli milagai podi. This is optional but will taste good. Again mix and roast till it gets crispy..

  7. Some people fry this kilangu. I have prepared this varuval with less oil still this will get crispy and taste very good. Keep the flame low medium and stir in intervals so that this kilangu turns crispy on all sides. You can see the sides of pan how crispy this is..
