Genovese sauce is an Italian pesto sauce, which can be made with either basil or meat.

Ingredients of Genovese Sauce and Cheese Spring Rolls

Prepare of and 1/2 tablespoons Genovese sauce.

Prepare of or more Sliced cheese (either melting or non-melting type).

It’s of Spring roll wrappers.

It’s of Flour dissolved in water (1 teaspoon of flour dissolved in 2 teaspoons of water).

Prepare of Olive oil.
It is quite popular in the city of Naples in Italy.
It is different from other Italian pesto recipes because of onions being an integral part of this recipe.
This version of the genovese sauce is the basil pesto one.
Place a spring roll wrapper on your work surface with a corner pointed towards you.

Cut the spring roll wrappers into 4..

Cut the sliced cheese into 8 (use more if you like!)..

Spread the spring roll wrappers and place on each a portion of cheese. Put a teaspoon of Genovese sauce on top of each..

Brush the dissolved flour on both sides of the wrapper pieces (left and right sides in the photo) and fold the bottom up..

This photo shows Step 5. Press gently both sides and the seam from Step 5 to stick..

Repeat this to make 8 spring rolls. If you want to freeze them, arrange them without overlapping in a container and freeze. After they are frozen, put them into a resealable bag! You can cook them on a frying pan without thawing them!.

Heat a frying pan over a low-medium heat. Grease the pan with olive oil and arrange Step 7. Pan-fry until golden brown. After frying, place them on kitchen paper on a plate to drain the excess oil. Transfer to a serving dish and theyre done!.
