This sabzi is made by sautéing raw banans with onions, tomatoes and a bunch of spices.

Ingredients of Raw Banana Sabzi

  1. It’s 4 of medium sized raw banana.

  2. It’s 2-3 tbsp of curd.

  3. You need 1 of medium sized onion grated.

  4. Prepare 1 of medium sized tomato pureed.

  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.

  6. It’s 1 tsp of red chilli powder.

  7. Prepare 1 tsp of coriander powder.

  8. It’s 1 tsp of garam masala powder.

  9. Prepare 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.

  10. It’s 1/2 tsp of kasuri methi.

  11. Prepare to taste of Salt.

  12. You need 1 tbsp of ghee.

  13. You need 2 tbsp of oil.

  14. Prepare Handful of Coriander leaves for garnish.

A simple, dry subzi of raw bananas, tempered traditionally with mustard seeds, red chillies, et al, and garnished with grated coconut.

While you can use any oil for this subzi, using coconut oil will add to the authenticity.

Likewise, do not forget the curry leaves as more than half the flavour and aroma of the Raw Banana Subzi comes from it.

Raw banana stir fried sabzi is done and ready, garnish with some green coriander leaves.

Raw Banana Sabzi instructions

  1. Boil the raw banana in the pressure cooker for about 3-4 whistles..

  2. Cool them. Peel them. Cut into thin slices..

  3. In a pan heat ghee and 1tbs oil, saute the banana for about 3-4 minutes til they turn little crispy..

  4. Remove them in a plate. In the same pan, heat the remaining oil, add cumin seeds. Saute for a minute..

  5. Add the grated onion, saute on medium flame for about 2 minutes. Add the spices and saute for another 2 minutes..

  6. Now add the tomato pureeand kasuri methi. Cook till the mixture leaves the oil.

  7. Now add curd and mix immediately to avoid curdling of curd..

  8. Add the banana. Mix everything properly. Cook for another 2 minutes..

  9. Switch off the flame. Transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and fried banana slices..

Serving: Serve this delicious raw banana stir fried sabzi with chapatti, parantha or rice.

Sabzi prepared with unpeeled bananas taste delicious.

Sprinkle all the spices- turmeric powder, chilli powder, sambhar powder and salt.

Remember to go easy on the chilli powder or omit it completely if the sambhar powder is spicy in the first place.
