Heat oil in pan, add mustard seeds after it cracks add urad dhal and cumin seeds..

Next add curry leaves, garlic and green chillies. Saute few minutes..

Add onion and saute till golden brown. Then add potatoes and turmeric powder..

Add salt and pour ¼ cup water. Mix well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes till potatoes are soft..

Add the chopped raw banana. Mix and cover with lid for 5 minutes. Smash with spoon to break the chunks..

Add grated coconut and coriander leaves. Mix well..

Tastes best with any spicy curry and rice or can be kept as stuffing for masala dosai also..
Don't not over cook and this will make a mashed podimas.
Use firm and fresh raw banana, so it will be easy to cook and grate.
If cooked more, it will be difficult to grate and becomes mushy.
Raw banana can be cooked in an open pot too: fill the pot / pan with water.
